The College has been transformed into a progressive model of liberal arts education featuring innovative academic programs, state-of-the-art facilities and competitive NCAA Division II athletics--which means more learning opportunities, better teaching, a smarter curriculum, greener living, a stronger community and happier students. With a student/faculty ratio of 11:1 and a typical class size of 18, YHC students don't get lost in the crowd. Young Harris College is able to accomplish more because of its size, and students can too. The College currently offers 20 baccalaureate programs, 22 minors, eight post-baccalaureate education programs and four secondary certifications. Popular majors include business and public policy, biology, outdoor leadership, psychology and education. In each academic program, opportunities for undergraduate research abound. In fact, the annual Undergraduate Research Day highlights cross-disciplinary research among faculty and staff. As part of the College's core curriculum, students take classes in topics ranging from composition to public speaking. This creates a better, well-rounded student: one who can connect the dots between multiple ideas, solve problems creatively and communicate effectively. Students graduate with versatile skills and employable attributes that will continually help them adapt to a changing world. Additionally, widespread opportunities exist in the classroom, on the field, on stage and in the community--so students can build their skills, experience and resume. Young Harris College students are encouraged to get involved and make the most of their four years by exploring all that is going on around campus. Students have the opportunity to branch out and try new things--and meet students with similar interests--in more than 50 campus organizations. This small, private institution has launched thousands of successful careers.
