University of California--Riverside

UC Riverside (UCR) is one of the most affordable universities in the prestigious University of California system. UCR has been identified as first in the nation when affordability, graduation rates and Pell grant recipients are weighted equally. Our students graduate with an average debt of $21,500, far less than the national average. US News and World Report consistently ranks UCR as one of the top-ten most diverse universities in the United States. More than half of UCR undergraduates are first in their families to earn college degrees. Our support programs make us a standout campus for historically underrepresented communities. UCR researchers are discovering new ways to detect and treat cancer faster, farm more efficiently, make batteries last longer and analyze what makes people truly happy. Undergraduate students have the opportunity to participate in research projects and creative work alongside award-winning faculty. UCR is internationally acclaimed for its citrus diversity, entomology and science fiction collections. UCR students are known for giving back. We're ranked 2nd in the nation for contributing to the public good in terms of social mobility, research and community service (Washington Monthly). Our alumni change the world by innovating renewable energy, founding global nonprofits and creating Pulitzer-prize-winning art. UCR has seven schools including The School of Medicine, California's first new public medical school in four decades. UCR competes in Division I of the NCAA as part of the Big West Conference.
