SUNY Maritime College

SUNY Maritime College, one of six state maritime academies, is the first and the largest maritime college at 1,850 students. Our 55-acre waterfront campus is located 30 minutes from Manhattan. We offer students practical, career-focused programs in the international maritime industry in engineering, marine environmental science, international business, and humanities. SUNY Maritime College is nationally recognized by the Accreditation Board for Engineering and Technology (ABET) as an accredited institution and is one of only six colleges in the United States to offer a Naval Architecture degree. Many of our majors include additional coursework and training that allow our students to earn their U.S. Coast Guard License. Upon earning the license, it qualifies our students for positions on various merchant vessel. Students pursuing the U.S. Coast Guard License acquire hands-on training while on our 565-foot, 17,000 ton training ship, The Empire State VI, which each year crosses the oceans and visits ports internationally. SUNY Maritime emphasizes combining classroom learning with real world experience through internships and research, to ensure students get the best of both worlds. A small student population means students get to know their faculty and get the time and attention they need to develop necessary skills to become dynamic leaders in the maritime, transportation, logistics, international business, military service, and law sectors, among many others.SUNY Maritime College undergraduates enjoy the best value of a public education while consistently ranking among the top five schools in the nation for return on investment. ROTC programs are available to all qualified students who wish to pursue careers in the Navy, Marine Corps, Army, and Air Force. Students can benefit from over 40 student clubs, 13 NCAA Division III athletic sports, and the Regiment of Cadets, a structured environment focused on leadership and teamwork.
