Rooted in a century of hands-on agriculture and technology education, The State University of New York College of Agriculture & Technology at Cobleskill prepares students for successful careers, advanced studies, and engaged citizenship. SUNY Cobleskill is an accredited, baccalaureate, residential college with more than 2,500 students enrolled in 56 baccalaureate and associate degree programs offered through two schools - the School of Agriculture and Natural Resources and the School of Business and Liberal Arts & Sciences. SUNY Cobleskill was the first campus in the SUNY system to require that every student completes an applied learning experience before graduation, making graduates better prepared for employment and more competitive in the workforce. With new degree programs in Food Systems & Technology, Fermentation Science, Applied Fermentation, and Therapeutic Horsemanship, SUNY Cobleskill is preparing its students to thrive and lead in burgeoning industries. The new Center for Agriculture and Natural Resources, opened in 2014, integrates three major academic programs--Plant Sciences, Fisheries & Wildlife, and Animal Sciences--to create a synergy between the departments and provide students access to the latest technologies. The building hosts state-of-the-art greenhouses, a 40,000-gallon cold-water fish hatchery, green roofs, and much more. The College is leading research efforts in the conversion of agricultural and municipal waste into clean energy with the new Center for Environmental Science and Technology. Undergraduate students participate in research through study in the new Environmental and Energy Technologies curriculum. SUNY Cobleskill boasts a contiguous farm, and hosts New York's only bachelor degree program in Turfgrass Management. The equestrian center, opened in 2005, includes a 34,000-square-foot indoor arena, breeding and training facilities, and room to board more than 70 horses. The 200-cow dairy facility boasts cutting-edge herd and waste management technology. The agricultural complex also includes an arboretum, golf greens, and agricultural engineering laboratories. In addition, the scenic 902-acre campus features an outdoor recreational area, Histotechnology laboratory, broadcast television studio, modern Design Center, restaurant, pre-school, and daycare center. Other new programs, including a B.S. in Graphic Design Technology, keep SUNY Cobleskill at the forefront of contemporary higher education. SUNY Cobleskill graduates transfer to places such as Cornell University, the University at Albany, SUNY Binghamton, the University at Buffalo, Stony Brook University, SUNY College of Environmental Science and Forestry, and more. A unique early medical school assurance program allows eligible students to apply for guaranteed admission to Upstate Medical University at the end of their freshman year without taking the MCATs. Articulation agreements ensure easy transfer to other colleges in the SUNY system. Nestled among the rolling hills of Schoharie County, SUNY Cobleskill offers its students numerous opportunities to fully experience collegiate life while challenging themselves inside and outside the classroom.
