Stonehill College

According to the school, Stonehill College - located on a stunning New England campus just 22 miles from Boston - offers students the knowledge and experience they need to succeed in their chosen field along with a liberal arts foundation that fosters the kind of well-rounded and adaptable thinkers today's leading organizations demand. As our alumni have consistently demonstrated, it's a combination that unlocks personal potential and paves the way to professional success. A Catholic college founded by the Congregation of Holy Cross, Stonehill values integrity, tradition and the rewards that come when you connect bright and ambitious students with rigorous academics and a dedicated faculty. A team of advisors that includes professors, career counselors and alumni mentors - coordinated through the College's new Think. Act. Lead. initiative - helps students find a path to success built around their strengths and passions. It also keeps them on track to graduate in four years. Our business program is among only 5% of business schools worldwide to be accredited by the Association to Advance Collegiate Schools of Business (AACSB). Whether it's business, science, arts, humanities or pre-professional programs, Stonehill's approach to education melds challenging courses with nationally recognized experiential learning to shape graduates into compassionate leaders and global thinkers. CORNERSTONE PROGRAM: All of our 43 majors and 53 minors are built around the Cornerstone Program, where students are prepared for lives of learning, leadership and responsible citizenship. It combines interdisciplinary Learning Communities, courses in ethics, the sciences and language, and a major capstone course for seniors in which they demonstrate mastery of their academic discipline. INDIVIDUAL ATTENTION: Classes are kept small so that Stonehill's accomplished and accessible faculty members can mentor and challenge students during all four years. In addition, the Stonehill Undergraduate Research Experience (S.U.R.E.) pairs students with professors to conduct, publish and present research in a range of disciplines from biochemistry to education. EXPERIENTIAL LEARNING: The National Survey of Student Engagement reports 99% of Stonehill seniors participate in "High-Impact Practices" (internships, practicum, field experience, study abroad and professional research), compared to 83% of seniors at other regional private colleges. The 96% Academic Success Rate among its athletes is among the highest in the Division II athletics nationwide. CHARACTER AND VALUES: As a Catholic college, Stonehill has a strong commitment to building a more just and compassionate world. Each year, nearly 2,000 Stonehill students participate in community service. Last year, students provided more than 95,000 hours of service to nonprofit and civic groups. Opportunities for service this year include 16 service immersion trips over winter, spring and summer breaks for nearly 200 students to sites from Peru to New Mexico and Oregon. Says Jeff Santos '15: Stonehill teaches us to value every person and to value experiences. I did a semester in D.C. I did a semester in London. I've interned on campus and off campus. Being able to explore various interests, and to intern, and to go abroad and have those experiences has really made all the difference. Says Danielle Berkman '16: I'm just so grateful for the opportunities that I've gotten here. I have opened myself up so much more since I arrived and I don't think I could have done that anywhere else but Stonehill.
