Founded in 1909, Southeastern Oklahoma State University serves 4,000 students throughout Oklahoma and north Texas. While the main campus is located in Durant, the University also offers programs at the McCurtain County branch campus in Idabel; the University Center of Southern Oklahoma, Ardmore; Eastern Oklahoma State College, McAlester; Tinker Air Force Base and Rose State College, Midwest City; Oklahoma City Community College; and Grayson College, Denison and Van Alstyne, Texas. Sean Burrage serves as president of Southeastern.Southeastern is one of six institutions governed by the Regional University System of Oklahoma. Southeastern is accredited by the Higher Learning Commission. Southeastern is also ranked annually among the top 10 schools nationally in producing Native American graduates. It offers a number of innovative programs to assist Native American students, who comprise approximately 30 percent of the student enrollment.Typically, in a given year, 85 percent of Southeastern students receive financial aid and 50 percent are first-generation college graduates.The University is one of the largest employers in the Durant area, and has received national recognition for its community service.
