Founded in 1860 by Franciscan friars, Quincy University is a Catholic, co-educational, residential University offering an academic program that integrates liberal arts, active learning, practical experience, and Franciscan values. At Quincy University, students from all faith backgrounds are welcomed and encouraged to grow personally and serve others. Quincy University is located on a 70-acre campus in Quincy, Illinois (population 41,000) just a few blocks from the Mississippi River. Quincy University is home to approximately 1,300 undergraduate and graduate students from 32 states and six foreign countries. Seventy percent (70%) of full-time faculty members have terminal degrees and classes are taught exclusively by faculty members (as opposed to graduate or teaching assistants). With a student/faculty ratio of 14 to 1 and an average class size of 15 students, our professors become truly vested in their students success. Supplemental instruction is readily available by way of QUs Student Success Center. Quincy University offers more than 40 undergraduate programs as well as four graduate fields. Rooted in liberal arts education, Quincy University encourages students to seek knowledge that leads to wisdom. Students gain insight not just from their major, but from many fields of study, helping them to think critically and see issues from different points of view. QUs academic programs are grounded in experiential learning opportunities and often lead to hands-on internships and other professional world experience. In fact, nearly 90 percent of all Quincy University graduates are working in a related field or enrolled in a graduate program within six months of graduation and many students find employment before they even leave Quincy! QU is home to more than 40 clubs and organizations including a student newspaper, vocal and instrumental groups, drama clubs, service and mission trip groups, professional associations, several honor societies, four Greek organizations, and dozens of intramural clubs. All students participate in service learning. Nearly 98 percent of all students receive financial aid and QUs friendly and knowledgeable staff work with each student to make sure he/she receives as much financial assistance as possible. Quincy University is a member of the NCAA Division II Great Lakes Valley Conference and offers 18 intercollegiate sports for men and women with more on the way.
