The College has more computer science majors than any university in New York City, and the third largest number of accounting and business students in all of New York State. Over a third of the Colleges undergraduates major in the sciences; of these students, over half are minority students, and almost 60% are women. Honors programs are central to QC's tradition of excellence, enabling faculty mentorship, advanced research, and individualized programs. QC participates in CUNYs Macaulay Honors College, a program which supports academically gifted students with tuition and other benefits. QC also offers both a Freshman and Transfer Honors Programs, as well as Divisional Honors Programs in the Arts and Humanities, Mathematics & the Natural Sciences, and the Social Sciences. The colleges centers and institutes serve students and the larger community by addressing societys most important challenges, including social justice, public health, and environmental challenges, as well as celebrating the citys many ethnic communities. Recognized as one of the most affordable public colleges in the country, Queens College has long been known as an institution that provides a first-rate education to talented people of all backgrounds and financial means. In addition to affordable tuition, a degree at Queens College is even more accessible with the help of financial aid. Over 60 percent of its students receive such aid, including grants, scholarships, loans, and work-study, while over 70 percent of all students graduate debt-free. Located in the heart of Queens, Americas most ethnically diverse county, the college has a highly multi-national student community that represents 170 countries. The beautiful 80-acre campus is lined with trees surrounding grassy open spaces and a traditional quad. It boasts state-of-the-art computer and science laboratories, a spectacular music building, and the six-story Rosenthal Library.
