Millsaps College

Located in the dynamic capital city of Mississippi, Millsaps College offers a wide range of opportunities for its students to be involved in professional research and community engagement, along with internships in medicine, law, business, education, the arts, and more. With long-standing international partnerships and programs, including a 4,500-acre bio-cultural reserve in the Yucatan, Millsaps offers myriad opportunities for international study abroad. Since its founding in 1890, Millsaps College has been committed to freedom of inquiry and expression in the classroom and on the campus. Millsaps is recognized for its strengths in the liberal arts and business. It is one of the few liberal arts colleges in the U.S. to hold both a Phi Beta Kappa chapter and accreditation at both the graduate and undergraduate level by AACSB International (The Association to Advance Collegiate Schools of Business). Through its Else School of Management, Millsaps offers a "fifth year" M.B.A. or Masters of Accountancy to its business undergraduates, and also provides a strongly supportive environment for its arts and sciences undergraduates to obtain masters degrees in business. All students at Millsaps build the foundation for their studies on the Compass Curriculum, a new core curriculum implemented in the fall of 2015. Courses provide students with opportunities to explore different topics and themes through a rich interdisciplinary context, create formal and informal communications products that demonstrate critical listening, read, and writing, and a broad range of domains from business to the fine arts. Millsaps also understands the need for practical support of its students in their preparation for life-long vocations. The new Institute for Civic and Professional Engagement will help ensure that Millsaps students graduate with the best classical education and with career goals, civic commitments, and professional skills that equip them for lives of meaning, good citizenship, and leadership. Through the institute, the College will enhance and expand current experiential learning programs--including professional internships, student research projects, community engagement efforts, and more--and will provide the structure to coordinate these programs in ways that make specific connections to the academic environment and larger community, all while building upon the College's distinctive mission and helping address the needs of the city, state, and region. With its combination of experiential learning and a faculty dedicated to helping students realize their full potential, Millsaps College is able to also make the promise that all students will graduate in four years - guaranteed. This promise is based on certain conditions but also reinforces the value to students of earning their degree on time, so they can begin their careers or further their studies - something not unfamiliar to Millsaps graduates. In fact, 95% of Millsaps graduates are employed or in graduate schools within six months of completing their undergraduate degree. With a solid academic reputation and distinguished faculty who are accessible to students, Millsaps College is considered an ideally-sized living-learning environment where students develop into mature citizens with the intellectual capabilities, ethical principles, and sense of responsibility needed for leadership in all sectors of society.
