Louisiana State University at Alexandria (LSUA) offers a high-quality, affordable undergraduate education in a caring atmosphere that challenges students to excel in the classroom and in their lives. LSUA is a growing, energetic campus set in the heart of Louisiana. Recently, LSUA has been named as one of the top universities in the nation whose students have the least amount of debt at graduation. Students may choose from a wide array of associate and bachelor degree programs. The most popular programs include Nursing, Business Administration, Criminal Justice, Biology, Education and General Studies with concentrations in programs such as Psychology, Kinesiology and Political Science. LSUA also offers several programs 100% online including Business Administration, RN to BSN, Elder Care Administration, Medical Laboratory Science and Criminal Justice. Students may also qualify to become part of the Honors Program that allows them to receive an enriched learning experience, additional research opportunities, priority registration and the ability to regularly interact with other academically talented and gifted students. LSUA has been recognized as a Military Friendly institution by Victory Media and provides numerous benefits to veterans and active military such as a veterans lounge, Delta Chi Kappa student association and military family support programs. The university is also home to a growing and active ROTC program. Student life consists of more than 30 on-campus organizations and clubs from which to choose. Organizations include the forensics team, Student Government Association, Empty Space Players and many more. Some of the most popular on-campus events include Welcome Week, the annual SGA crawfish boil, Ms. LSUA Pageant, Trick-or-Treat Street and the Mardi Gras parade. Students may participate in a number of intramural sports such as basketball or in club sports such as golf, rodeo or rugby. LSUA competes in the Red River Conference of the NAIA and fields teams in mens and womens basketball, mens and womens soccer, baseball, softball and womens tennis. The womens tennis team, mens basketball team and softball team all made the NAIA national tournaments in their respective sports in the 2014-2015 school year. Additionally, every sports program made their respective conference tournament for post-season play. LSUA is home to the recently completed Mulder Hall with over 72,000 square feet of classrooms equipped with state-of-the-art teaching tools, theatre space, rehearsal rooms, art studios, offices and conference rooms. The entire LSUA campus contains wireless Internet access and all classrooms, offices, computer labs and housing spaces including common areas and private rooms have high-speed wired connections to the Internet. The Oaks is the primary on-campus resident facility. It contains four apartment buildings made up of one, two and four-bedroom units that include a common living space. The Oaks also has an outdoor swimming pool, outdoor basketball court, barbecue space and an activity center with a game room, computer lab, vending and laundry facilities. The LSUA Fitness Center houses a large indoor swimming pool, weight room, workout rooms and basketball court.
