Since 1860, LSU has served the world through extensive, multipurpose programs encompassing instruction, research, and public service. The flagship institution of Louisiana, LSU is one of only 30 universities nationwide holding both land-grant and sea-grant status. With a community of around 36,300 faculty, staff, and students from most states and approximately 100 countries, its academic programs include bachelors degrees in 72 major fields, masters degrees in 72 fields, and doctoral degrees in 48 major fields.
