JCU affiliations with Lake Erie College of Osteopathic Medicine and the Ohio University Heritage College of Osteopathic Medicine (OU-HCOM) help talented Ohio high school seniors reserve a seat and early admission to medical school. Students also have an opportunity to participate in 3 + 3 programs in law with Cleveland State-John Marshall and Case Western Reserve University. JCU students contributed 135,586 hours of service to the community in the 2015-16 academic year. For the eight consecutive year, John Carroll University was named to the 2016 Presidents Higher Education Community Service Honor Roll, the highest federal recognition a college or university can receive for its commitment to service, civic engagement, and service learning. New majors at John Carroll include data science, The Mike Cleary Program in Sports Studies, healthcare information technology, and a professional healthcare preparation minor and certificate program. Lacrosse is now a varsity sport for both men and women. The "Saint Johns Bible" - the first handwritten and hand-illuminated Bible in 500 years - debuted at John Carroll in April 2008 for permanent display in the Grasselli Library and Breen Learning Center. The Boler School of Business consistently ranks in the top 10 business schools in the Midwest and holds a dual accreditation by The Association to Advance Collegiate Schools of Business (AACSB) - a prestigious distinction that is only awarded to the top 5% of business schools in the world. In 2016, The Boler School ranked 1st in the nation by Bloomberg for producing career ready graduates. Our distinguished faculty includes 185 full-time members, 97% of whom hold the terminal degree in their field. Of full-time faculty, 81% are tenured, 14% are on tenure track, and 5% are visiting professors. More than 50% have published books, articles, or have received research grants in the past two years.
