While founded as a teacher preparation institution, the majority of students today major in other disciplines and professional programs, although education programs remain highly sought after. The University confers the Bachelor of Arts, Bachelor of Science, and Bachelor of Science in Education degrees in 31 majors, including accounting, art history, art studio, biology, business and information technology, chemistry, communication arts, computer science, criminology, early childhood education, economics, elementary education, English, environmental science, fashion design and retailing, finance, food and nutrition, food science, geography, global studies, history, liberal studies, management, marketing, mathematics, modern languages, nursing (post-RN program), political science, pre-engineering psychology, and sociology. Student success is central to the mission of the University. Comprehensive academic support and advising services help students make the transition to the first-year and stay on track to degree completion. The University also features a robust honors program for exceptional students. At the advanced level, Framingham State University graduates approximately 500 masters students each year in 25 graduate programs, including an MBA program that can be completed on a full or part-time basis. Framingham State was a pioneer in undergraduate and graduate online education, having offered online courses since 1998. Traditional college-age students as well as non-traditional students seeking higher education on either a full- or part-time basis have opportunities to participate in campus life through a wide variety of co-curricular activities and to develop the knowledge and skills needed to compete in a global and technological society.
