Since 1847, Earlham College has prided itself in providing the highest quality undergraduate education in the liberal arts, including the sciences, shaped by the distinctive perspectives of the Religious Society of Friends (Quakers). The College emphasizes the pursuit of truth, respect for others, integrity and application of what is known toward improving our world. Through our interdisciplinary-minded and research-focused education, and our distinctive form of governance by consensus, we form a community of global citizens of strong moral character who engage the world with broad, inquisitive minds. Earlham is commonly regarded as one of the nations finest liberal arts colleges. It is a member of the Greater Lakes College Association (GLCA) and has been featured in all editions of Loren Popes Colleges That Change Lives. Our selective student body limited to less than 1,200 is comprised of students from almost all 50 states and, remarkably, nearly 70 different countries.The College is academically distinguished as it uniquely equips students for the 21st century. In addition to offering almost 50 programs of study, the College emphasizes integrative and immersive learning as a central feature of the Earlham experience, called the EPIC Advantage. It provides, for example, all juniors and seniors with funded, high impact immersive experiences like internships and student-faculty research. These powerful experiences take place across the United States and the world. The result is a richly collaborative and experiential approach to teaching and learning that leads to compelling opportunities for graduates.Of Earlhams teaching faculty, 85 percent report having conducted collaborative-based research with students. Over the past six years Earlham has been ranked among the top 25 colleges nationally in its commitment to teaching excellence at the undergraduate level.Earlham is among the top 10 percent of four-year colleges and universities nationwide, and one of only three liberal arts colleges in Indiana, that have a Phi Beta Kappa chapter. Providing special study and enrichment opportunities to students, its academic programs are currently supported by grants from the Andrew Mellon Foundation, McNair Postbaccalaureate Achievment Program, Fulbright-Hays Initiative, Cargill Foundation, and Teagle Foundation, among many others.In 2016-17 Earlham celebrated a Rhodes Scholar and another Watson Fellowship recipient, the 13th Watson awarded to an Earlhamite in the past 12 years. Also, in recent years Earlham has been included among the list of top Fulbright producing colleges, joining other prestigious institutions like Pitzer, Amherst, Pomona, Oberlin, and Middlebury as leaders in this area. Earlham is honored to be among the two dozen schools invited to host the Bonner Scholars Program on their campuses. In addition, we are proud to be a part of the Davis United World College Scholars Program, a major philanthropic force in promoting international understanding. Earlham ranks among the top 2 percent of all colleges in graduates who earn a Ph.D., and acceptance rates to medical, law and other professional schools are exceptionally high.Earlham students are fully engaged with more than 70 percent of our graduates participating in off-campus programs. All students have an immersive experience, whether through off-campus study, an internship, or research.
