Concordia University, Nebraska is Christ-centered, affordable Christian university with excellent academics. Founded in 1894 by The Lutheran Church--Missouri Synod, Concordia's mission is to equip men and women for lives of learning, service and leadership in the church and world. Through a community of caring, invested faculty, staff and alumni, Concordia intentionally intersects Christian faith, life experiences and excellent academics that develop individuals to fulfill a higher purpose in their career and throughout their vocations in life. The main campus is located in Seward, Nebraska, Concordia's friendly hometown of around 7,000 people. Seward is a safe, small town 25 minutes from Lincoln, Nebraska, and 75 minutes from Omaha, giving students easy access to service and social opportunities, culture and entertainment in the city. Students also have plenty to do right in Seward at coffee shops, boutiques, local and chain restaurants, a movie theater, a bowling alley and other shopping and entertainment activities.Concordia has 11 dorms, and 71% of undergraduate students lived on campus in 2016-17. Concordia University, Nebraska was ranked ninth in the list of Best College Dorms in America and 19th in Safest Colleges by Cappex, a website designed to help students research colleges. The results were part of Cappex's 2015 Cappies, a compilation of more than 1.4 million student reviews of more than 2,000 colleges and universities.Concordia offers more than 70 undergraduate academic programs and more than 30 master's degree programs. In Lincoln, our graduate campus serves as the hub for face-to-face and online master's degree programs in education, healthcare, business, athletic administration and human services.Through generous alumni and donor support, students received on average $20,000 of institutional scholarships and grants in 2016-17, and all incoming students receive scholarships and grants from Concordia each year. As the only Christian College of Distinction in the state, Concordia's Lutheran identity helps students strengthen their own Christian identity and gain the practical experience they need to successfully learn, serve and lead in the church and world.
