The Mission of Chestnut Hill College is to provide students with holistic education in an inclusive Catholic community marked by academic excellence, shared responsibility, personal and professional growth, service to one another and to the global community, and concern for the earth. Chestnut Hill College is a close-knit community offering personalized one-on-one contact between faculty and students. The college is growing: two new buildings have been constructed in the past nine years, land has recently been acquired that almost doubles our campus size, and two buildings on the new property have been extensively renovated for use by the college community. A unique collaborative opportunity is the Sisters of St. Joseph Association of Colleges Student Exchange Program (ACSSJ), which offers students the opportunity to study at one of seven other U.S. colleges sponsored by the Sisters of St. Joseph. The College is a member of the Southeastern Pennsylvania Consortium for Higher Education (SEPCHE), a consortium of eight independent higher education institutions in the Greater Philadelphia region. Positive outcomes for students include extensive course offerings through cross registration plus the richness of sharing in the resources of seven excellent colleges. Our campus location combines the culture and commerce of center-city Philadelphia, only a short train ride away; the charm of colonial Chestnut Hill, just up the road; and the sylvan beauty of Fairmount Park, directly across the street. Chestnut Hill College was founded in 1924 as a Catholic, four-year, liberal arts college for women and opened its full-time undergraduate program to men in the Fall of 2003. Since its inception, the College has offered a rigorous liberal arts education that provides students with a broad background in the humanities, social sciences, and natural sciences. The College has a history of preparing students for careers in the sciences and education and has developed a strong technology focus as well as strong programs in business, education, and psychology. Chestnut Hill College prepares students for lifes challenges by helping them to grow intellectually, spiritually, emotionally, and socially. Students learn not only how to earn a living; at CHC they learn how to live.
