Champlain College

Founded in 1878, Champlain College is a leading private college overlooking Lake Champlain in Burlington Vermont, with additional campuses in Montreal and Dublin. Career-minded students have been the focus of Champlain College since it was founded. Today, that long-standing tradition continues with outstanding undergraduate and online undergraduate courses, along with robust online certificate and degree programs, and masters degree programs. Its 22-acre campus, is nestled among the stately maple trees of Burlington's historic Hill Section, overlooking Lake Champlain and the Adirondack Mountains of New York to the west. Many of the Colleges buildings, including most of its residence halls, are restored Victorian-era private homes, which give students a unique atmosphere in which to learn and live.The spirit of innovation and relevance are highlighted in majors such as business, communications, creative media, education, social services, computer innovation and information technology. Traditional undergraduates find Champlain's unique "Upside-Down Curriculum" puts them into essential courses with award-winning professors from day one of their first semester, right through to graduation four years later. During their time at Champlain, students participate in programs like Bring Your Own Business (BYOBiz), the Emergent Media Center, Center for Financial Literacy, Leahy Center for Digital Investigation, Champlain College Publishing Initiative and the Center for Service & Civic Engagement, gaining vital hands-on experience before they graduate. Plus there are more than 50 student clubs and organizations offering a full range of activities and community service opportunities.Champlain is striving to build a diverse community. Approximately 2,200 traditional undergraduates attend Champlain, representing 46 states and 17 countries. Classes are small, with the average overall student to faculty ratio at 14:1. Approximately 50 percent of Champlain students elect to study abroad at Champlain campuses in Montreal, Canada and Dublin, Ireland, or with Champlain-sponsored immersive programs in China, Morocco, New Zealand, or other third-party programs.
