Students are encouraged to become active participants through a diverse range of programs, activities, and services designed to enhance the student experience. Community service opportunities abound at Berkeley, allowing students to work with charitable organizations and participate in local activities that benefit the greater community. All students have a voice in Berkeley College governance through the Student Government Association (SGA). Elected SGA officers act as a liaison between students and administration, and help plan campus activities and events. The diversity of the student body contributes to the cultural enrichment of the College community. Many ethnic and multicultural events are planned to promote understanding of the similarities and differences among cultures. High academic achievers may join a variety of honor societies in recognition of their accomplishments. Berkeley College students benefit from the assistance provided by Career Services specialists in locating full-time or part-time employment and volunteer opportunities utilizing an extensive network of employer contacts; interview coaching, including mock interviews, preparation, and scheduling; and career fairs and campus recruitment days. Berkeley College graduates are eligible for free lifetime career assistance. During the 2014-2015 award year more than $22 million in Berkeley College grants and scholarships was provided. Berkeley maintains a tuition freeze for students who meet continuous enrollment requirements. Berkeley College is proud to support the Post 9/11 GI Bill and is a member of the Yellow Ribbon program. Berkeley College also has partnered with the Department of Defense for all Military Tuition Assistance programs, maintains a fully staffed Office of Military and Veterans Affairs, operates on-site Veterans Resource Centers at three locations as well as online, and participates in the Combat Veterans Education Partnership.
